My flower on a boy's page - dare #8

I thought I'd show you one of my layouts with flowers on a boy's page. Admittedly this one is a few months old but it fits the theme of this dare so I thought I'd post it here. This is my son, totally caught up in his imaginary world of play in the sandpit last year. I think the flowers add to the dreamy feel of this layout.
Don't forget you have until next Wednesday 6pm to link your pages you've created for this dare.

Dare 8 - Andrea

I had lots of fun doing this layout - definitely had to scrap a photo of my DH and his frown. I used Rhonna Farrer stamps for the flowers and swirls ( i actually stamped a whole sheet of flowers but in the end only used 5!), Chatterbox patterned paper and KI Memories letter stickers.
Don't forget to get your entries in by next Wednesday!

Dare # 8 - Lianne

I know what you guys were thinking - she's gonna use the Heidi Swapp hibiscus flower on a layout of James surfing, didn't you. I thought that's what you'd think so I thought I'd surprise you.
I had some Making Memories blue dye mixed up from ages ago so I dribbled and brushed that all over the white background. I started by cutting circles out of James surfing then they turned into these flowers. And the layout kinda grew from there. Love the Bohemia alpha rub ons.

Dare 8 - Lesley

I have used a flower foam stamp with distress ink for this layout. Also added some Rhonna Farrer swirls and added some shell circles. I have used dymo labeller for the journalling. The title is chip chatter chipboard letters. The design of the flower seemed to fit perfectly with the logo on the sweatshirt and the nature of the wooden stump my son is climbing on. This was really fun to do. I challenge you to put a flower on a boys / man page. This round is kindly sponsored by Kiwiscraps.

Dare 8 - Trina

Well I kinda cheated a bit. I've got a baby in mine (plus DH!), but that does make it easier.

I actually really enjoyed this dare as it does stretch the imagination. How do you make the LO still look masculine with a flower on it. I kept on saying to my Dh, is this ok, are you ok with flowers on your LO? Luckily he was (as I've done a few lately! LOL).

My way to keep it masculine was colour. Big bold bright colour.

I also tried to incorporate the flowers, not only as actual flowers, but intrinsically as well. Check out the PP, rubons and trim. All flower patterns.

Anyway, here it is. Hope you get inspired by this challenge to try something new and get creating.

And don't forget, KIWISCRAPS have been very generous in supplying a prize for the winner this fortnight. Yay! Thanks Kiwiscraps.

Wendy Dare 7

At last I have managed to do a dare - well sort of anyway - mine is not exactly scrapbooking but a little off the page stuff - way off the page but it still does the metal thing or does it??
I have been working on a couple of masks for a masquerade parade we are going to in the school holidays as part of the Alexandra Blossom Festival. We are doing a bit of a South Island tour with the kids taking them to all the places I enjoyed as a kid.
The silver on the masks is tin foil - well that is kinda metal and one of the eyes in the gold mask has a metal mesh covering so I figure they qualify. I have still to finish the kids ones but you guessed it they want to help decorate them.

Lianne - Dare # 7

Everything is metal except the c/s and p/p, oh and the paint - lots of paint. I started with this idea you see, of making a frame with the metal mesh and embossing it with UTEE and painting it black. Then I just kept adding from there - lots of metal and lots of paint. I used various metal letters, brads, eyelets, wire (lots), metal shim, metal mesh, metal bookplate, spiral clips, photo turn, washer and a metal rimmed tag. I think that's it.

Dare 7 - Yolande

WOW ok I found a stash of metal! Lots of star embellishments so that was the start of this layout. I loved this photo ... my son was sick and fell asleep in his beanbag with his finger UP his nose. I've made the star at the bottom from wire (a bit hard to see in the scan sorry). It reads... "Aim high. Reach for the stars. Dream big".
So have ya found a metal stash yet?

Dare 7 - Lesley

I initally thought I would go for a masculine layout with this metal challenge and then I changed tack when I remembered some old MM metal flowers and stars I had. I have used these and have created flowers using the multitude of metal rimmed tags I had. The A is a metal mongram and I have used brads in the middle of the Queen and Co flowers. Also have used a bit of metal mesh behind the photo.

edited to add: I have also used mini eyelets as well.

Trina's take on Dare #7 - Metal

Here is my take on this fortnights dare. Boy did it turn out differently to what I imagined. LOL. But I love how the metal comes through in both the photo (check out those bolts on the bridge!) and also the bookplates and brads I've used.

I think metal has been forgotten in everyones love of chipboard so it was really fun to break out some things I havn't used in a while. Thanks Rach for the challenge!

And a huge thanks to Meg at Scrapbook Essentials for the sponsorship of a prize for this dare. How cool is that?!

DARE # 6 - Rachel

I LOVED this DARE + had loads of FUN!!! Have to admit it was challenge for me too!!
I have used MM vintage, UL, SR, 3 Bugs, CBX, SEI + Sassafras.
So the reason for this subject was I came across this pic of me while doing the old search for a photo to work with + remembered this funny comment my friend Janine's male friend told her when they went to a barbie together that "Bras don't do barbies" + this story always stuck + made me laugh. So how perfect my pic + that story!! But EAT YOUR HEART OUT MALE FRIEND!!!! :)

Dare #6 Marieke

I know I'm late with this one. I actually had it finished last Satuday but had to hold on to it as it was also designed for the newsletter of ScrapGal, an online store I design for and the newsletter doesn't come out until the first of the month. I couldn't really post it before it came out now could I? So here you go. A layout about what used to be Thomas' and is now Annabel's favourite book. They like to fight over who's the good one and who's the bad one. If you know the book you'll know what I mean. Anyway, it's got BasicGrey x3, Scenic Route x2 and MME x2, so that makes 7!

Now remember thanks to Scrapbook Outlet there is a prize to be won this time around. You have until September 6 to submit your layouts with 7 (or more) pieces of patterned paper. Leave us a comment with a link to your online gallery or blog or email a picture to RANDLGRAY@xtra.co.nz (100kb or less) by Wednesday 6 September at 6pm.
And we're giving away another prize as well. For every dare you've completed so far you have one entry into the draw. You've got to be in to win!
