Dare number 26 - Everyday Moments

HAPPY BIRTHDAY TO US....HAPPY BIRTHDAY TO US....
Hi everyone! Wow, what a fun time this last year has been! Thank you all so much for your interest, support and wonderful dare challenge entries. They have all be so inspiring to us and fun too!

Well this fortnight we have a heap happening for you... you see its our birthday and we've decided to give you the presents. LOL.

So our first pressie is a guest designer......please welcome the very special Nic Howard!

I'm sure you all know of Nic from NZ scrapping circles and have seen her work in various magazines. Her book called Thats Life has just been released this month and is a wonderful way to think about scrapping. Its filled with inspirational ideas to get you thinking about the everyday things in your life. Stuff that you take for granted, yet if they were gone you'd miss.

And here is an everyday moment LO from her book:
So as happens when throwing around new dare ideas, one thing led to another and we decided that this topic would make a perfect dare.

We dare you to look around your life and create a LO about something that is just a normal part of your everyday life.

Here is my take on this fortnights dare. It is a typical conversation I have with my children. And it typifies what they love. Their Daddy being home making pancakes. I'm so going to miss these simple things that delight them so easily, when they grow up!
And by entering this fortnight you could win one of 3 prizes.....yep THREE prizes from our very special sponsor.

Yes, they have kindly donated a HEAP of product including: a shape cutter, a cutting mat, a template and 2 pairs of scissors (x3)! Thanks so much for these wonderful prize packs FISKARS!
How can you get your hands on these amazing prizes?

Enter the challenge by putting a link to your LO in the comments section. At the end of the fortnight we'll do a draw for one WHOLE set as seen above, then we'll choose our fav LO for another whole set, and the third set we are going to split up and do a draw from the people who have commented and they will get a little something each.

Last because we want to keep inspiring you and making this site more fun, we'd love to get some feedback from you. Theres a questionaire following and we'd love to see what you think. If you're a bit shy, please feel free to email Lianne at: RANDLGRAY@xtra.co.nz But we would really love to see your thoughts/ideas/comments:

1. What time frame would you prefer the dares to come out? Weekly/fortnightly/monthly?

2. Do you prefer technique, product, theme based dares, a combination or you don't mind?

3. Are you happy with the current way we award prizes? If not, how would you prefer to see them awarded?

4. Are you happy with us recognising our favourite dare entry? Yes/No

5. Are the dares daring enough? Yes/No

6. Do you prefer the contributors LOs all in one post or uploaded over several days?

7. Do you have any other suggestions? Or comments to add.

Thanks guys! Can't wait to see your gorgeous creations! Have a fab couple of weeks, and keep checking back cause there's going to be more LO's added very soon!

Cheers,
Trina.

MoniqueA wrestling free-for-all is an everyday occurance in my house! I couldn't resist using this Story People quote with these pics!

Enjoy the Birthday dare everybody!

Lesley

My layout is about the soft toy Amanda has always taken to bed and how this year that has changed a little and she now allows other soft toys in her bed! And how for a while I would find them all lined up at the top of stairs each morning. Too cute!

JoMy layout is about something that literally happens every single day in our house. As soon as I get up our cat, Puff, is yowling at me for his saucer of milk. Puff and our dog George are really good friends and George is only too happy to wait patiently while Puff has as much milk as he likes and then he digs in after Puff has walked away. I can't believe how patient my usually exuberant boxer is with the cat!

LianneHere's my layout. Finally got the chance to do a 6x12. Been wanting to do one for ages.
Journalling reads:
Every week day we spend an hour in the car together driving. It's become a good time to catch up & just talk about things. I've been thankful for this time together that has made us quite close.

Megan

Real everyday thing here, getting the mail. It's a big thing in our family to be 'Old Enough' to get the mail all by yourself.

Journalling reads

Old enough to remember the code for the door lock

Old enough to remember our PO Box number

Old enough to know the correct key

Like his brothers before him, Ben is now Old enough to get the mail.

Marieke

I'm finally writing down all those funny things the kids have been saying. There's a gem almost every single day. Here's one from my girl last week.

Faye

Having had 2 daughters I had no idea that little boys like to dress up. Living with Connor and Riley I've discovered they do. I often walk out on a weekend morning to find two little Super Heros ready to save the world.

And the winner of Dare # 25 is ...

SUE BULL
congratulations Sue, you are the winner of our draw this fortnight. Can you please email me your address so I can pass it on to Meg at Scrapbook Essentials to get some yummy scrapping goodness sent out to you.

Thanks to the ladies who entered this dare. They were all gorgeous and it's so hard to chose a favourite, but there was something about Sarah's that I really loved. The mix up of the letters fitted so well with the bubblyness (is that a word, sounds good anyway) of that great photo.
Check out the others in the Slide Show below.

Now y'all better check back here tomorrow night cause it's our - tadadada -

1 year anniversary

and we have a very special dare lined up, with a super talented guest designer, which you won't want to miss out on and some great prizes too.

Slide Show - Dare # 24

I realised today I hadn't put the slide show up, sorry about that. Have to put it down to being a little bit sick and having a foggy brain I think. Anyways, here it is. Hope you enjoy and thanks to all you lovely ladies who send in your great work.

Dare 25 - Andrea

This was such a fun dare to do. I had this cute crochet flower lying around just waiting to be used on a layout so this was perfect. I mixed up my title letters by using different types of chipboard letters and i used my Autumn Leaves journaling stamps - such a great look they give.

So come on, you have until this Wednesday 18th July at 6pm to get your layouts into Lianne. Send them to: RANDLGRAY@xtra.co.nz (100mb or less).

Dare 25 - Lesley

Ok I used an oldie but a goodie for the cross craft - buttons and hand sewing. The patterned paper is actually a printed tissue covered in gel medium.

The title uses Lil Davis outlined chipboard alphabet letters and some old letter stickers I found in my drawer!

The journalling block is a Cherry Arte noteworthy stamp.

I have used 3 of the criteria but it is up to you whether you use 2 or 3. I dare you too.

Dare #25 - Jo

I chose to use crocheted elements on my layout too (flowers and trim - and no I didn't make them although I can now crochet flowers) it is, however, my own zig zag embroidery around the journalling block so I covered the cross craft and journalling block parts of Lianne's dare. Oh and I chucked a bit of paint around too - does this count as a cross craft Lianne lol! This layout is a series of self portraits I took for Ngaire Bartlam's celebrating beauty campaign. Remember you can choose two ideas from: using a cross craft, using a journalling block or mixing up your alpha stickers.
Looking forward to seeing what all you clever crafty people come up with :O) Comment on Lianne's post with a link to your layout or send your layouts to RANDLGRAY@xtra.co.nz (100mb or less) by Wednesday 18th July at 6pm.

Dare # 25

This fortnight's dare is a little different from our usual dares but I'm sure you'll all like it.
We'd like you to use at least 2 of the ideas listed below on your layout.

1. Mix up your letter stickers
2. Use or make a journalling block
3. Use a piece of another craft on your layout, e.g. crochet, knitting, quilting, embroidery, etc.

Here's my layout using all 3.
I crocheted the little orange flower; not that great, I'm still learning, but heaps of fun as they only take a minute and they're such a cute addition to a layout. The journalling block is Sassafras Lass and I've used a mixture of lettering stickers for the title.

Have fun with this and send your layouts to RANDLGRAY@xtra.co.nz (100mb or less) by Wednesday 18th July at 6pm.
ETA - This dare is sponsored by the lovely Meg at Scrapbook Essentials. Thanks again Meg for your support.

The winner has been drawn !!!

My boy has drawn Gwen Kirman's name out of the hat (well the pocket actually!)
Congrats Gwen, please email me your contact details at thebuntings @ xtra . co . nz so I can post you out some lovely Pink Martini goodies.

I loved all your layouts, they are exactly what I had in mind when I thought of the dare, you are all talented ladies, thanks for playing :)

Some of my faves :-
Dione Evans
Gwen Kirman
Lara Moss

Here is one of my layouts for this dare, I ended up doing three in the end because I realised there was so many non-photo layouts that I needed to do to preserve some of the memorabilia I have collected. This one is of my son's success in the speech competition, I couldn't get any photos of the occasion as I was in the very back row, but I do have the occasion recorded which I am happy about!

Lianne - Dare # 24

A bit late for me this time but I wanted to do this dare. There's an ad on TV here in NZ about a smile. It's the AMI Insurance ad and this is the poem that is said throughout the ad. When I first heard it I knew I had to scrap it, so SJ's dare was perfect for it.

In case you can't read my funny writing it goes like this:
A smile is contageous,
It's passed from me to you,
As soon as one is witnessed,
It's so hard not to do.
To be a party to a smile,
Is priviledge indeed,
A smile can make things better,
It's sometimes all you need.
So valuable a smile,
You'll find out that it's true,
That if you smile at everyone.
You're smile comes back to you.

You have till tomorrow night at 6pm to get your dares in. Email them to me at RANDLGRAY@xtra.co.nz (100mg or less) or post a link in the comments of SJ's post.
