Dare number 26 - Everyday Moments

HAPPY BIRTHDAY TO US....HAPPY BIRTHDAY TO US....
Hi everyone! Wow, what a fun time this last year has been! Thank you all so much for your interest, support and wonderful dare challenge entries. They have all be so inspiring to us and fun too!

Well this fortnight we have a heap happening for you... you see its our birthday and we've decided to give you the presents. LOL.

So our first pressie is a guest designer......please welcome the very special Nic Howard!

I'm sure you all know of Nic from NZ scrapping circles and have seen her work in various magazines. Her book called Thats Life has just been released this month and is a wonderful way to think about scrapping. Its filled with inspirational ideas to get you thinking about the everyday things in your life. Stuff that you take for granted, yet if they were gone you'd miss.

And here is an everyday moment LO from her book:
So as happens when throwing around new dare ideas, one thing led to another and we decided that this topic would make a perfect dare.

We dare you to look around your life and create a LO about something that is just a normal part of your everyday life.

Here is my take on this fortnights dare. It is a typical conversation I have with my children. And it typifies what they love. Their Daddy being home making pancakes. I'm so going to miss these simple things that delight them so easily, when they grow up!
And by entering this fortnight you could win one of 3 prizes.....yep THREE prizes from our very special sponsor.

Yes, they have kindly donated a HEAP of product including: a shape cutter, a cutting mat, a template and 2 pairs of scissors (x3)! Thanks so much for these wonderful prize packs FISKARS!
How can you get your hands on these amazing prizes?

Enter the challenge by putting a link to your LO in the comments section. At the end of the fortnight we'll do a draw for one WHOLE set as seen above, then we'll choose our fav LO for another whole set, and the third set we are going to split up and do a draw from the people who have commented and they will get a little something each.

Last because we want to keep inspiring you and making this site more fun, we'd love to get some feedback from you. Theres a questionaire following and we'd love to see what you think. If you're a bit shy, please feel free to email Lianne at: RANDLGRAY@xtra.co.nz But we would really love to see your thoughts/ideas/comments:

1. What time frame would you prefer the dares to come out? Weekly/fortnightly/monthly?

2. Do you prefer technique, product, theme based dares, a combination or you don't mind?

3. Are you happy with the current way we award prizes? If not, how would you prefer to see them awarded?

4. Are you happy with us recognising our favourite dare entry? Yes/No

5. Are the dares daring enough? Yes/No

6. Do you prefer the contributors LOs all in one post or uploaded over several days?

7. Do you have any other suggestions? Or comments to add.

Thanks guys! Can't wait to see your gorgeous creations! Have a fab couple of weeks, and keep checking back cause there's going to be more LO's added very soon!

Cheers,
Trina.

MoniqueA wrestling free-for-all is an everyday occurance in my house! I couldn't resist using this Story People quote with these pics!

Enjoy the Birthday dare everybody!

Lesley

My layout is about the soft toy Amanda has always taken to bed and how this year that has changed a little and she now allows other soft toys in her bed! And how for a while I would find them all lined up at the top of stairs each morning. Too cute!

JoMy layout is about something that literally happens every single day in our house. As soon as I get up our cat, Puff, is yowling at me for his saucer of milk. Puff and our dog George are really good friends and George is only too happy to wait patiently while Puff has as much milk as he likes and then he digs in after Puff has walked away. I can't believe how patient my usually exuberant boxer is with the cat!

LianneHere's my layout. Finally got the chance to do a 6x12. Been wanting to do one for ages.
Journalling reads:
Every week day we spend an hour in the car together driving. It's become a good time to catch up & just talk about things. I've been thankful for this time together that has made us quite close.

Megan

Real everyday thing here, getting the mail. It's a big thing in our family to be 'Old Enough' to get the mail all by yourself.

Journalling reads

Old enough to remember the code for the door lock

Old enough to remember our PO Box number

Old enough to know the correct key

Like his brothers before him, Ben is now Old enough to get the mail.

Marieke

I'm finally writing down all those funny things the kids have been saying. There's a gem almost every single day. Here's one from my girl last week.

Faye

Having had 2 daughters I had no idea that little boys like to dress up. Living with Connor and Riley I've discovered they do. I often walk out on a weekend morning to find two little Super Heros ready to save the world.

1. What time frame would you prefer the dares to come out? Weekly/fortnightly/monthly?

Well, I prefer weekly since layouts dont take a lot of time, but every two weeks would be okay.

2. Do you prefer technique, product, theme based dares, a combination or you don't mind?

theme based ideas. I really hate techinique or product dares, it limits who can do them.

3. Are you happy with the current way we award prizes? If not, how would you prefer to see them awarded?

i like the out of the hat thing you guys do, but also when you see an outstanding page, you lookat them too. give those of us whove been scrapping fr years but arent as good a chance too.

4. Are you happy with us recognising our favourite dare entry? yup

5. Are the dares daring enough? sometimes

6. Do you prefer the contributors LOs all in one post or uploaded over several days?

all in one post. eaier to find the dare and stuff like that

7. Do you have any other suggestions? Or comments to add. I love these dares for the most part. havent been able to do many lately since its been mostly technique orproduct dares and those of us who cant buy many products cant do many of those. I'd like to see more odd themes. Everyone does the family or travel or remember when themes, but there has to be some cool odd ones out there.

HAPPY BIRTHDAY
My first dare completed in th time frame Yay!

http://awomanandherboys.blogspot.com/2007/07/my-1st-number-8-wired-entry.html

I typed out a whole long post with answers to the questionnaire. I don't have time to redo that riht now but in short I like the way you do everything already. The only thing I have found frustrating is having each design team members layout in a different post, I like them all in the same post, much 'tidier'

Hap Hap Happy Birthday NZ Dares!
You are all truly inspirational. I may not have always completed my dare layouts in time for the challenge deadline, but I have saved the ideas for "one day".
I have managed to create a layout for the birthday challenge though, you can see it here...

My entry is here:
http://greengecko29.blogspot.com/2007/07/nourish.html

1. What time frame would you prefer the dares to come out?
Fortnightly or monthly is good. I'm a busy person and I don't have too much time to scrap so less frequently gives me a chance to enter!

2. Do you prefer technique, product, theme based dares, a combination or you don't mind?
I don't mind. Technique ones can be challenging but that is good. Product is a bit tricky because not everyone has or will buy a particular product...

3. Are you happy with the current way we award prizes? If not, how would you prefer to see them awarded?
Out of the hat gives everyone an equal chance (unless you enter heaps of entries) so that is good for those of us who aren't uber-scrappers ;-)

4. Are you happy with us recognising our favourite dare entry? Yes

5. Are the dares daring enough? I think so... some of them haven't appealed to me so that probably means they are daring enough! LOL!

6. Do you prefer the contributors LOs all in one post or uploaded over several days?
All on one post is good.

did my 'everyday' - thanks for the 'push' NZ dares! & thanks for a great read Nic!

1. What time frame would you prefer the dares to come out?
would love weekly :-) just cause I love what you guys come up with!

2. Do you prefer technique, product, theme based dares, a combination or you don't mind?

go the mixture & variety!

3. Are you happy with the current way we award prizes? I think it's a very fair way of doing it. but I don't think you need prizes every time - a challenge for challenges sake - that's if sponsors aren't avaliable for the current dare.
4. Are you happy with us recognising our favourite dare entry? it's personal choice & it's nice for more than the random drawn winner to be recognised :-) makes people feel special.
5. Are the dares daring enough? sometimes

6. Do you prefer the contributors LOs all in one post or uploaded over several days?

all in one post.

7. Do you have any other suggestions? Or comments to add.
love your dares & your inspirational layouts - keep up the great work!
